Nubius Organics An Eco-Mom's Guide to A Green Halloween

Another summer has come and gone, the kids are back at school, the smell of autumn is in the air. As another crisp October beckons, kids everywhere are repeating the age-old question “What are you going to be for Halloween?” The answer wavers often, sometimes even after the costume is planned, made or purchased, but it’s Halloween after all and that’s just part of the fun. Fortunately for us eco-moms, Halloween is one of those celebrations that works well in green. It’s easy to switch from drug… Continue

Lena @ Over Coffee - the green edition True Green or True Green Washing?

I have tried very hard to reduce the amount of plastic that my family uses, specifically the amount of plastic bags we use. We pack lunches in reusable containers, we save and reuse glass jars as storage containers, we shop with reusable bags (including reusable produce bags), when possible we wrap items in aluminum foil, and we save and reuse plastic bags that items (such as grapes) come in. As much as we have reduced our plastic bag consumption we have not eliminated it all together. This is… Continue

Cindy Fallsen Green Dental Caps

I have been interested in knowing what sort of impact dental caps may have on the environment. Dental insurance companies may want to begin to examine this in order to support the 'greener' supplies in dental care. Does anyone know anything about the footprint that these ingredients leave on the environment? Continue

I did. I am one of those people that likes to know why. Why are plastic bags made for the environment? Why should we use reusable bottles? Why are phosphates bad for the water systems? Why are front-loading washers and dryers "green"? Who do I turn to when I want to know why? Why… Continue

Lena @ Over Coffee - the green edition Vinegar, Baking Soda, and Lemons. The truly natural magical ingredients.

When you start talking green cleaning these 3 little words come up all the time: Vinegar, Baking Soda, and Lemons. When I was younger I remember my grandmother placing caps of vinegar around the house (specifically behind pictures so they would not be seen). She told me that the vinegar soaked up odors (I didn’t believe her). I also remember my grandmother adding vinegar to the water when she washed drapes. She said that it not only removed smells but it also whitened the d… Continue
