Sometimes, getting the kids outdoors takes a little... persuading. With that in mind, I've rounded up a few "citizen scientist" projects for us to participate in as a family this spring. Hopefully, these will motivate us to spend more time outside…

Six days a week I collect mail from my mailbox, and most days I wind up tossing (into the recycling bin, of course) all but one or two pieces of mail. Yes, I've signed up for Catalog Choice and ProQuo but I still get a lot of junk mail- menus from…

I keep my recycling in my bags, and drop off the recycling on the way to the store! My husband hates seeing the bags of recycling lined up, so he very helpfully "reminds" me that the recycling wants emptying.

Hi Robin. I totally get what you are saying about moving past the basics. I also feel that it's time to do a little more than just recycle and keep our streets and parks clean. I am taking one step at a time to do more. Recently I've become an eco-consultant to help those who haven't been as environmentally aware. I am still learning something new everyday and all I can say is it's a good think I enjoy challenges. It's overwhelming trying to remember everything!

We're looking for weekly contributors to post once per week and be featured on our main page. If you'd like to do this please let me know. This is something you can add to your resume or even link back to for writing and social networking experience. It's a great way to gain exposure.

If you have any questions about our community or would like to offer some suggestions, please let us know.

Have a healthy and green day,

What does it mean to be a green and clean mom to you?
1. Do no harm (or as little as possible);
2. Do all that I can, in any way that I can, big or small, to improve the world around me;
3. Raise my kids to be happy, healthy, and good.
How many children and what are their ages?
My kids are Jacob, 11; Maverick, 8; and Cassidy, 4.
What green issues do you hope to learn about through this forum?
I am trying to move beyond the basics. I'd like to find ways to make a bigger impact; I'd like to help those who are just starting out; I'd like to find inspiration for more than I can do to protect our earth for our children.
I would like to learn more about the Mommy Go Green Blog Tours where I can feature and review green products on my blog.

I Have a Phone Book. I Do Not Need Another Phone Book.

Straddling the border of three states, I have three phone books. I have never once used these phone books to look up a telephone number; that is what Google is for. Rather, I use them to press flowers, as a cutting surface when using an exacto knife, as a weight to straighten curling… Continue

A Bird in Hand

What a difference a year makes.

This time last year, my husband could not fathom what had come over me. Why did I feel the need to bake my own bread, clean with vinegar, hang the laundry, plan a vegetable garden, feed the birds and squirrels? In an effort to show by contra… Continue
