Thanks for the comment, Lena! Isn't that awful?? Even people who know me as the greenie in town will drop stuff off in a plastic bag. "You can recycle it," they tell me, justifying themselves. Just say no in the first place! You caught me on an act…

That is such a disturbing picture! Thank you for sharing. The plastic bag "issue" is so important...for everyone!

I have to tell you. My son is 20, and has since left the nest. I have his legos- and wanted to yardsale/ebay them for my daughter to inhabit his room. But my husband was agast at that idea! I found legos I had no idea we had-- a FULL clothing drawer…

I signed the petition and I will blog about it too. My 8 yr old sona nd his friends are totally into Legos. It would be great if we could get them to make them more eco-friendly. Thanks for sharing and starting this petition. Good Luck!

About Me:
I'm a mom, a small business owner and trying to be as green as I can be. My passion is helping other families transition to an earth-friendlier lifestyle! My other passion is my son who is one of the best little "EarthMenders" out there.

I developed the I Count for myEARTH campaign, which launched at my son's elementary school in January and is free to schools. 90 out of 350 kids signed up for the school's EarthMender Club which launches in just a couple weeks! I am hoping this campaign, which resonates so well with children will spread to more schools across the nation. Schools have free access to the PDFs to share on their classroom computers and I'm hoping to get businesses involved to print the EarthMender posters for those schools that can't afford it.

I wrote a poem, I Count for the Earth, which can be found on the icountformyEARTH.com website. My dream is to have someone print it as a children's book ... I've sent it out to publishers but have yet to hear back. Of course, I think it's the best poem ever :)

What does it mean to be a green and clean mom to you?
Setting an example for my son by reducing my own consumption, re-using whenever possible, and recycling even when there's not a recycle bin in site! I am trying to instill in my son that we are not here to judge, but to inspire others--in a fun way, if possible --to lower their impact on the earth. It is all about our minute-by-minute choices, being conscious.
How many children and what are their ages?
I have one son, Ethan, and he is 7. He says "I was born to cook and play legos!" His ability to concoct dressing and desserts is uncanny. He makes us sit in a relaxing area without our electronics, lights candles, takes our drink orders and he acts like he's the head-waiter and chef. Can't wait until he's cooking gourmet dinners for us ;)
What green issues do you hope to learn about through this forum?
I hope to learn about new issues and innovative solutions to these issues. To learn things that will help me to help and inspire others in my own community.
I would like to learn more about the Mommy Go Green Blog Tours where I can feature and review green products on my blog.

Plastic Bags... Harmful to the Earth and Our Children's Future

Over 500 BILLION plastic bags are consumed per year... almost 1 million per minute. And...

It's The Great Outdoors Month -- Is Anyone Going?

Did you know June was proclaimed Great Outdoors Month by President Obama and 25 states?

My 2nd grader will be home from school soon. It’s a beautiful day and I am anticipating my daily challenge of getting him outdoors. Up until the last year and a half, he was perfectly content to play outside. Even by himself (he's our only child). With certain friends, imagination led them to dig, play wi… Continue
