Great post! We can't control every hazard that comes in contact with our children and ourselves. However, making sure you use the safest products in your home is a great way to limit many of them.

I can't wait to share this site with my husband, he's an enviornmental scientist with an emphasis in sustainable development and land use. My father in law is working on a "resort" that is fully sustainable and green, so this sort of thing is really helpful to him as well. What a great way to live and go through school. Out of curiousity what was your favorite part, or what was your best learning experience? I grew up with parents that believe in raising everything you can to suistain yourself. So it's always been apart of life for me. My husband really got into it about 10 years ago when we started dating. I love to hear how people got involved.
I really look forward to getting to know about you, it's so nice to see other people with the same ideas out there.
Sorry this is all over the place, my 2 year old and I are baking cookies, but I couldn't wait to tell you how excited I was about the link you sent.
Thank you again
Samantha

Thank you! You have a beautiful family yourself. Your older son looks a lot like you! I appreciate you checking us out. Our first shipment is set to be in this month and I am very excited to get things up and moving. If you don't mind me asking where did you live before moving? I saw that you were talking about the way of live being green. I live right outside of San Francisco and it's pretty green around here and the more I learn about life outside the bay area the more I find it's not always as "green". Looking forward to getting to know you

Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I'm the only lady in a house full of guys - my hubby and two boys. I earned my master's degree in time to start my career as a stay-at-home mom, but that doesn't mean my life of research ended b/c it certainly hasn't. I spend lots of time researching greener baby products, learning about things such as bpa and cloth diapering, and bringing up boys. My blog is all about my family, greening my life, and photography (as well as cooking and a few other odds and ends). I went to college at a school that is becoming known for sustainability (Berea College) - where I also lived in the EcoVillage family housing. Being "green" was a lifestyle there, and it's become a huge part of who I am.

You Put WHAT On Your Face??

I'm sure many people are starting to become more aware of what products they are putting on their faces - and what those products have IN them. Most of you have probably even checked out the cosmetic database that rates makeup products and other things, such as sunscreens, cleansers, etc. I know I have looked up items, and I especially use the information when choosing certain products for my infant before putting something new on his skin… Continue

Cloth Wipes?

I wouldn't be surprised if many or most of you ladies on here with babies use cloth diapers (or gdiapers). Am I right? How many of you have taken it a step further and tried cloth wipes?

We did this almost immediately. It just made sense. And though you can buy cloth wipes from places that sell cloth diapers for a few bucks a pop, there are many other cheaper alternatives, if you prefer. We went to our local Target store, headed to the automotive department, and got a couple packages of the mic… Continue

Green Seal

My family and I are in the process of buying our first home. Dear Husband (DH) wants to have the house cleaned before moving in, which is something that I think we would all want - a clean home to move into. He immediately started asking coworkers for recommendations and calling all over for prices. I had one requirement, though. Anybody cleaning MY HOME had better be using GREEN cleaning products! None of that other stuff will do, especially the more and more I learn about what really is IN tha… Continue
